THREE RING ROCK STAR NEWS

> BLACK ANGEL'S DEATH SONG broke up a couple months ago. Sorry kids.

> Yeah, yeah, yeah...SOUNDGARDEN broke up...blah, blah, blah, whatever.

> Eric from CARP recovered from his suicide attempt and they just put out a new record and are going on tour! (!!!)

> Jimmy Cabeza DeVoca (This Issue's Coverstar) is no longer in the southbay clown band BOB.

> Big Fight! SIX VOLT SUNBEAM played a show at Smalls recently and after Rob Wagner (2nd Guitar) lit the firecrackers taped to his guitar (during the song "Travis"), The owner of Smalls jumped up and started beating on him! Then Greg Franco of FERDINAND joined in to help Rob and then the owner attacked HIM. The crowd rushed out the doors like sheep! Chaos everywhere! Now THAT'S rock and roll!

> QUIN95 breaking up?!? The current members of the southbay noise band may split or stay together, but lead singer The Mighty Quin sez that he'll continue QUIN95 (under another name?) with or without the other members. QUIN95 has been dropped from the SPIFFY RECORDS catalog.

> DON SALSA has packed up and moved to Santa Cruz where they just finished their new cd which is out now.

> SPIFFY RECORDS is looking for bands who would like to contribute cover-songs for their new compilation "EVERYBODY COVERS PRINCE". So far these are the bands contributing... MIGHTY THOR - "I Can Never take The Place Of Your Man", THE TEEN IDOL SENSATION - "Kiss", ThE NeGaTiVeS - "Darling Nikki", CARNIVAL OF SUFFERING - "The Beautiful Ones", and Tom Wailing - "When You Were Mine". If you know songs by "symbol-for-a-name", and you want to be on the comp, send your recording on a high quality type II cassette to: (Old Address Withheld). All will probably be used, but if not, you'll get your tape back. All types of music will be considered...'specially nerd, punk, pop, power-pop, ska, noise, rockabilly, and psychobilly. Send yours now!!!

> GYMICRAE has not one, but TWO new cds out on two different labels. Get 'em!

> Hollywood punk band THE ONLYS are looking for a new drummer. They're influenced by SEX PISTOLS and DEAD BOYS so call 'em up at [Old Number Withheld]!

> BOBSLED are in the studio this month to record a whole new album!!! This will be the follow-up to last year's "Darlahood".

> NO-FI "MAGAZINE" may soon have a "sister" magazine tentatively titled [Name Withheld for future possibilities]. If everything works out, it'll be out every three months starting in January 1998 (Unless someone dies!).

> The NO-FI "WEBSITE" is up and you can now read most of issues 1 through 7 (and see the covers of issues 1 through 11). Sorry about the delay. I dropped the old webmaster and had to do it myself. There are still a few bugs and the covers for issues 4 and 8 are missing (and right now the links are a little messy), but try it out and sign the no-fi "magazine" online guest-book and tell me what you think. The NO-FI "MAGAZINE" www address [was] : http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/3210.

> Hey! It's OK to write us too! We're going to start printing letters really soon!

2007 Update:

Wow, where to begin here...

Ok, well, Jimmy went on to play keyboards for the band DIOS MALOS (who played Coachella a couple years ago). At the time of this writing, he is not touring with them after recovering from surgery.

Smalls is no longer a club in Los Angeles as far as I can tell. I don't remember at the moment if I ever went there or not. Wait...was that that place that's now a "burlesque" themed club on Santa Monica? I do know that SIX VOLT SUNBEAM and FERDINAND are no longer around.

Does something like QUIN95 ever really break up? Quin and bandmate Jeff eventually started a project called THE FILM VERSION and recently they just did a track for the upcoming Rich Polysorbate tribute album called "The Sea Digs Its Own Grave" coming soon from Spiffy Records. You can also hear Quin and Jeff co-host No-Fi "Radio" sometimes.

DON SALSA eventually moved back from Santa Cruz and then stopped being a band all together.

Wow, what a great idea for a covers album. Too bad we never did it. Hey! Let's do it NOW!!! Send me your Prince covers and we'll make it a free album download sometime in 2007...or 2008.

I remember GYMICRAE! Whatever happened to them? Oh, wait... Long story.

BOBSLED are no longer together. I'd be surprised if THE ONLYS were too.

Nobody died and we never really started printing letters.

Yeah, I still like the IDEA of doing another magazine. We're still toying around with the idea of doing a one-shot printed magazine sometime. We DO have THIS "Magazine" though...and we still have a website. And you're here! Let's be friends!
