NO-FI "MAGAZINE"
"Let's All Make Out With This Issue!"

So last month we did our 2nd Benefit show and I want to thank everyone who showed up and all the bands that played (Dios, Silversun Pickups, The Imperial Way, Amps On Ten, and the return of Thom Whaling). The funds we were able to raise helped us to replace our sad CD burner which which we mastered all our shows to CD before encoding them in the computer (now, we just need to replace the sad 1st generation iMac we use to encode the show). The old CD burner was on its way out and would only let us record up to a half hour at a time, afterwhich we would have to let it rest fo an hour, and then record for another half hour. I think one of the problems is that it had no real cooling system and only had vents at the top of the box from which you could actually see the CD as it was being burned which, to me, seems like a design flaw since any and all dust particles could just decide to rest in there and dirty up the laser and CDs at any time. The new burner has two CD decks, plays MP3 (but won't allow us to record from MP3...but I can do that from the tape recorder) and has a fan on the back that blows out the hot air before it gets to hot in the unit. And speaking of "hot in the unit"...

This is "The Make-Out Issue" and a bunch of the articles, drawings, and photos we are featuring this month were actually done AT THE SHOW last month by people like you (and possibly even YOU) in the audience. We passed out cameras for people to take pictures with and had article ideas and drawing areas all over the walls as you walked into The Smell in Downtown L.A to contribute to. Everyone on the cover, concert calendar and elsewhere were people at the show and two of the bands who played (Silversun Pickups and Amps On Ten) we recorded for No-Fi "Radio" and interviewed for No-Fi "Magazine" that very night at the show! And you never know...we also recorded the sets by Dios, The Imperial Way, and Thom Whaling so you never know when they might turn up on No-Fi "Radio".

Anyway, it's not too late to send us your own "make-out" stories! Where is the weirdest place you ever made out with anyone? Who is the weirdest person you've ever made out with? What was the weirdest situation you found yourself in where you ended up making out with someone? E-Mail Us, let us know, and we'll put it in the appropriate story this month! Ok? Ok!
