I caught this band at Spaceland while there to see SIX VOLT SUNBEAM and THE 99TH FUCK YOU and was very surprised at how good they were. Actually I had heard a lot about them beforehand, but itÕs always surprising when somebody sounds as good as people say they are. This four member band is made up of Bix (guitarist), Riley (Guitar), Annette (Bass), and Curt (Drummer). This interview was done on the phone with Bix the next afternoon. Please join us on another interviewing adventure. (free-style)
C = Chris Beyond (No-Fi Guy)
B = Bix (Vocals, Guitar)
C: Have you ever held a monkey?
B: No, but IÕd like to.
C: Explain yourself and your band.
B: OK, hmmm. Well, um I think I defy explanation. 3 HOLE PUNCH is a cross between THE SLITS and the SHANGRI' LAS.
C: Wow thatÕs a huge gap there.
B: We like to bridge that gap.
C: Have you ever shopped at The Gap?
B: Yeah, but not in a long time.
C: What was your favorite article of clothing that you got there?
B: I canÕt think of even one article of clothing from there...socks...they have good socks.
C: What do you like to do on your spare time?
B: There is so much of it I donÕt know what to do...play music and water my plants.
C: Anything from the Jurrassic era?
B: I donÕt know but itÕs possible...some of the plants are really old in my yard.
C: Who are some of your bandÕs biggest influences?
B: Um, Zombies, Sixties girl groups, Patty Smith, MY BLOODY VALENTINE.
C: And who are some of your favorites or what do you think of the local scene?
B: LUTEFISK , EXTRA FANCY, TOUCH CANDY, TEN CENTS,...I love the local scene...I think itÕs great.
C: If you were stuck in a cage with a lion, what movie would you suggest that the lion would watch with you?
B: THE LION KING, I guess...it might hold his attention.
C: Now what if he preferred to watch STAR WARS, but it was all rented out?
B: IÕd just ask him what else he wanted to see.
C: Are there any questions you would like to ask me before we continue?
B: WhatÕs the circulation like?
C: 2000 issues. Ok, now...if you lived in the eighties knowing what you know now, what would you do differently?
B: Nothing.
C: You would just sit there?
B: I did certain things in the eighties and I stand by them.
C: What was so cool about the eighties for you?
B: I lived in LA for a year, but mostly I was in New York.
C: Anything else?
B: I was in a band that I liked and I started playing guitar.
C: Do you have any shout-outs?
B: Nancy from Pan, and Brandon from LUTEFISK. (Quasar)
C: If you had a friend who was sorta' stinky and didnÕt know it, what would you do or say?
B: Um, thatÕs a tough one...IÕd probably just ignore it, in fear of hurting their feelings.
C: Awwwwww. What is your favorite animal?
B: Cats...I have two and theyÕre really sweet. They are the best cats in the world. Everyone says so. Kellie and Spike. Spikes a real wuss...a total wuss.
C: Just like me! So what do you think of this whole gothic explosion?
B: I think itÕs really sweet. Everyone was goth when they were 17. I was goth before it was popular. I wore black! I was depressed!.
C: Did the kids tease you?
B: Sure! DonÕt they always? They thought I was weird. I guess I was.
C: Well, I didnÕt wanÕt to say anything, but I heard things.
B: (Laughs twice)
C: Well you can always be gothic in the heart.
B: Absolutely.
C: Any last words of wisdom?
B: Um, donÕt try this at home...and donÕt drink and drive cuz yaÕ might spill your drink.
