This is not a story which cannot be explained. It has been known to happen to different people. There is a medical term for it. But still, in the dead of the night, if it happened to you, you would be scared too. I had gone to sleep after a fairly normal day. My daughter was safely tucked into her bed, and the man I was dating at the time was sleeping already beside me. After a few minutes I too fell asleep. The next thing I knew I heard a loud noise. I looked up and saw a figure wearing black walking around my bedroom. I tried to scream, but I was paralyzed. Nothing came out, and the figure was coming closer. He kept looking at me, with these incredibly scary, evil eyes that chilled me to the very core of my being, even though it was a summer night. He walked around to the foot of my bed and was coming closer. I remember thinking,"Why isnt James waking up? How can he sleep through this?" I remember trying to open my mouth to scream, but the closest thing that came out was a whimper. Finally with the figure only a few feet away from me, I let out a bloodcurdling scream. My eyes never shut. But James woke up and there was no one there. I had been sleeping and dreaming. In the middle of my dream the muscle that controls your eyelids to stay shut failed, and my eyes were open. So I was dreaming with my eyes open, but completely paralyzed. That fucking freaked me out. It has never happened since, but still I wonder if that could have been something more than just a dream.

Well this isn't scary but it is pretty horrifying! When I was in college in South Carolina, my best friends were in NYC on a trip and a cheesy local bar had a costume contest giving away 1000 dollars. We made a plan for me to win the contest and go straight to the airport and fly to New York to meet my up with my friends. I made this amazingly beautiful purple victorian dress and matching wig covered in beads and grapes that lit up from hidden christmas lights inside. I even hid a battery back in my wig so the grapes lit up in my headress too. I was totally convinced I had that thing in the bag. That night it poured rain, I couldn't sit down all night with the bustle and my lights burned out in the first five minutes from cheap batteries. No one got it cause I wasn't "something particular" and I wound up losing to not only a rented batman and catwoman costumes but to a guy in the most unorignal costume ever, an afro and 70's suit! First prize went to some guys who went as oompa loopmas with a choreographed dance they had obvioulsy set up ahead of time with the bar and judges! To make matters worse, they made us wait till 2 in the morning to announce the winner so we missed all the other parties and I vowed never to enter another costume contest as long as i lived!!

This story is too unbelievable to believe, but please be patient as I explain to the events of the most horrifying experience of my short life. It all began on a rainy winter morning (thunder CRACK!). Daniel had been bugging me for weeks me to do something "halloweeny", to get into the holiday spirit. He suggested we sneak into one of old Hollywoods most historic buildings. When it was dark enough we made our move, escaping past security attendants we wound our way through a series of corridors and several unmarked doors, our quickness to stealth our way past potential ruiners of our nighttime fun, made it impossible for me to tell where we where headed. Finally, we dead-ended and with no where else to go we had made our destination. The darkest of rooms, we entered, surrounded by strangers, none of whom acknowledged us as we entered the room, the air was stale and cold. I could hear myself breath. The room nearly silent except for the faint sound of what can only be described as some sort of thing, some sort of animal or though at the time I would never have believed it but a person, eating something. It was there in this strange place I witnessed the worst, the most abnormal of events. A woman, a blond woman was being taunted by something, I cant explain it, was something definitely not of this world. She didnt seem to be afraid of it, she was talking to it, it was very small in stature almost like a child. I don't think anyone else saw what she and I saw. But Daniel was right next to me how can he not be seeing what I was seeing.
It had to have been a spirit some sort of unsettled entity. This thing must have been haunting her for sometime, she was familiar with it and spoke to it in a dialect I couldnt understand. Yet even as she spoke with it, she was terrified I could feel her fear and I was afraid for her, and then out of nowhere another a terrible face appeared, and then another and another and still another. At times I had to close my eyes I couldnt take what I was seeing, this cant be happening, I was trying to hold back my fear to see what would happen next. And then, as I turned my head I saw one more horrific figure, this time a decapitated head, larger than life its bright bright white eyes and unholy expression refection in the window, starring, at me. I swallowed my heart now more afraid then ive ever been in my entire life. Still holding Daniels hand, I punched myself in the nose with his hand. I was aiming for my eyes, but as I said it was dark. I pulled Daniel from the room, escaping at the same rate as my rapidly beating pulse, with out any light to see our way, I couldnt take it any more I had to leave. We ran out to the lobby of the building. Neither of us could believe what had just happened.
So heres a tip for all you halloweiners: If you go see "THE GRUDGE" this Halloween season, close your eyes during the scary parts to avoid accidentally punching yourself in the nose. Unless youre into that sort of thing. SICKOS!!!

I had heard lots of noises while laying in bed before. Growing up, there were plenty of crackle's, thuds, and sqeeks, but this was definitely a THUMP! I was horrified, i thought that whatever was lurking around my house was sure to kill me, whether it be murder or a giving me a heart attack (which is rare at age 8, but not impossible). I waited a while, and heard footsteps. Under any other circumstance, i would have lied in bed and pretend whatever i was imagining would go away, but this was not my imagination. it was something, something i had heard; a definite thump, and footsteps. I put all my cowardness aside and figured, if whatever was out there, it would kill me, so might as well try and save my family. So i slowly got out of bed, and grabbed my baseball bat my father had bought me the year before. I started for the living room when i caught the first glimpse of my enemy, it was just it's shadow, but gave me goosebumps just as well. I couldn't tell exactly what it was, surely some type wolfman of sorts. I could see it's back-hair even through the shadow. I decided it was time to make my move, i yelled "HEY!" and started towards the beast. In an instance the i struck it with all my pre-pubesent might But i all i heard after was a my father's voice saying "que paso?!"
It had been my father all along. My imagination had gotten the best of me, and i had completely forgotten his frequent late night snacks. I told him what happened, and he explained that on his way to the kitchen, he had tripped and fallen. I felt bad for giving my father the second bruise of the night, but in the end, we were able to enjoy a late night Haggen Dahz bar together.

When my boyfriend, Rotten Ron, and I first moved to LA, we were staying at a friend's apt while he was out of town. Everything was fine, we were watching TV and getting sleepy, so we decided to go in the bedroom and go to sleep. I fell asleep right away, but thought I was awake and telling Ron that we should definiteley not move into the place we had decided to move, that it was a bad place and under no cirumstances should we move in there. I awoke with a start, because I didn't realize I was asleep. Ron was wide awake and told me he felt completely panicked and overwhelmed with dread. A few minutes later, our friend whose place it was came home, unexpectantly in the middle of the night. We told him what happened and he said yeah, stuff like that happens to me here all the time. We eagerly gave him back his bedroom, and went to sleep on the living room floor. Now, this apt was one of those places where there are no downstairs neighbors, there are only stores on the first floor, and there are upstairs neighbors either. We tried to go back to sleep, emphasis on tried. First we heard footsteps, heavy pacing footsteps. Then we heard dragging, like full on Christmas Story Jacob Marley chain dragging, it was so ridiculous. If we hadn't been so fucking freaked out and hiding, huddled together under the blanket, praying for daylight, it would have been funny. The End.

I was in Illinois last year visiting my friend Bryce. One afternoon he wanted to take me on a drive through the countryside. It started to get dark so we decided to get going. About a half mile down the road from his house we noticed a man standing on the side of the road a few hundred feet in front of us. He wasn't moving a bit. As we got closer he looked at us and started running for the car, reaching out to us, got about 50 feet away from us then vanished. Turned out a few years back a car thief was in a police chase, started driving on train tracks and got hit by a train about a mile from where we saw him. I can tell you, it was scary as hell.

Ok I moved into this house in Studio City in 1994.. It was a really cool house until all this crazy shit started happening.. I would come home and my furniture would be re-arranged... I would see shadows and hear distorted voices.. I find out that this house was one of the most haunted homes in studio city.... Three sisters died there over the years. They have tea on sundays and chatter in the kitchen every morning... Me and one of my roomates went to the "Psychic Eye" and bought a ghostbusting kit.... We lit the candles and lit the sage and went to every corner of the property.. I don't remember what we had to chant the whole time but my third roomate had the mosting haunted part of the house and he refused to participate in the house cleansing... We actually thought we cleared the house until a few weeks went by and all hell broke loose again.. We went to the psychic eye to ask why... They said all of us had to participate.. I Moved out a few weeks later..... Nothing worse than not wanting to come home at night...
